Hartland Qualifies Four
For State Meet

Eagles Fall Short In Team Regional Final

The Hartland Wrestling Team saw four of its seven Regional Qualifiers qualify for the State Championship last week while the team just missed winning its third straight Team Regional Championship.  Brad Lusk (152), John Posey (275), Brandon Dorenzo (119), and Tim Kowal (125), all became 1998 State Qualifiers on Saturday, by placing in the top four in their weight classes.  They will compete in the Division II State Wrestling Championships to be held in Battle Creek March 13-14.
On February 28, seven Eagles competed in the Individual Regionals, held at Hartland, and four of them qualified for the State Meet.  Two Hartland wrestlers, Posey and Lusk, won Regional Championships by dominating the eight man field.  Posey (275) repeated his District performance by pinning every opponent he faced in the Regionals.  Posey's final victim was Kevin Gant of Oak Park, who Posey pinned at the 2:38 mark.  Posey has a season record of 41-3.  Hartland's other champion was Lusk at 152.  Lusk, like Posey, recorded all falls on his road to the Championship.  Lusk destroyed everyone he faced scoring 19-3 and 16-0 technical falls over his first two opponents, and pinned Grosse Pointe North's David Hirt at 5:19 of the
